It is here where fully adjustable tabs come into their own as you can adjust them with the flick of a switch.LEGS Jig Fly Tying Nimrod's Tackle 10 or 24 SILICONE METALLIC SKIRTING TABS In a following sea, if your boat has a habit of "stepping out" a little and feels like it is being pushed around, raising the bow will eliminate most of this. This slamming can be greatly reduced by trimming the boat slightly bow down in a head sea. I think what Adam was referring to was a bit of both the small and medium boat trim tab fix as although a superb boat, the Warrior (as will all boats to an extent) will slam a little in different sea conditions. Typically, smaller boats will use tabs to get you on the plane a little more quickly. This allows you to get a more comfortable ride under different conditions Some people will use them on medium sized boats (I do on mine) to help lower the bow in a head sea or raise in it by lifting the tabs in a following sea. On larger boats, trim tabs are used to trim the boat laterally so that it doesn't list on one side or the other (many reasons, eg weight distribution, wind, prop torque etc). Oter benifits are better stability and 2 to 3knots faster on top speed but only tried them out twice so can only report on what i have noticed up to now.

The boat with the tabs on feels like a different boat, it accelerates a hell of a lot quicker with much easier control at low speeds and the bow is down and improves visability, it also uses a lot less fuel and that over a year is a good saving.

The boat was slapping at the higher speeds and the tabs have improved that greatly (hardly ever). Before i fitted them the lower range power was a lot harder to control, we would have to run the engine up to 3500 to 4000rpm to get the boat moving along nicley and on the plane and even then you could leave the throttle in the same position and it would either take off like a rocket or drop down in speed, i was always on the throttle if i wanted to do a steady pace of around 15 to 20 knts. I have to agree even though i have not set mine up properly they are worth every penny. and maybe give me a few ideas to think about before my next visit down to the boat. I have not come to the end of the line myself with this problem but thought the lads on here may have experience and more knowledge than me on this subject. If i have gone through the pressure settings do i now start to reduce the angle of the tabs and will this make a differance?Īlso somebody posted that they are worth every penny especially if you dont have the 70/75hp engine, i was under the impression that they were for the boat with big power to weight ratio? I may be wrong! Now i am presuming that if the boat has lost top speed then the tabs are not lifting? I have tried to watch the tabs as the boat increases speed to see how they are reacting but its hard with the wake behind the boat, i realise i can find this out in another way but not sat here at home! I have just fitted the smart tabs to our Warrior165 which has a Suzuki df70 and followed the instructions though, I set them to the recomended angle of 25 degrees and set the pressure to the middle position, i took the boat out and it was straight up on the plane and much easier speed control but the top speed was down quite a lot.īefore the next trip i adjusted the pressure to the lowest setting and took the boat out again, this time the boat was not as quick onto the plane, but better than without the tabs but top speed still down which is telling me that the tabs are still acting as brakes?
